In January I had the pleasure of traveling down to Sarasota, FL for Jim & Gretchen’s beautiful wedding at the Long Boat Key Club.   There were about a million little things that made this wedding really special, and I could spend hours talking about them all.  But instead, I’ll talk about the one big thing:  Jim and Gretchen’s family & friends.

I normally don’t get to meet any of the bridal party or guests until the day of the wedding.  But this time I got to spend the whole weekend with them!  I got to overhear their conversations about where they flew in from, how they knew Jim, or the first time they met Gretchen.  I got to hear stories about Jim’s fraternity days in college and Gretchen’s days on the EVP tour (yes, you read that right… this lady is for reals in the volleyball department).  And I got to hear about how their paths finally crossed thanks to a certain, very special, high school volleyball player (cough cough… way to go, Maddy!).  But, what was so cool was that every single one of these stories were followed by stories about what amazing people both Jim and Gretchen are.  How they have played such a special role in the lives of everyone that stood beside them on their wedding day.  And how they deserve a love like this.

Well, I didn’t need to spend a weekend with their families and friends to have figured that out… just a few hours with these two and you can totally see what everyone was buzzing about!  From the second I stepped off the plane I knew this was going to be a really, really special weekend.  And I couldn’t have been happier to have been a part of it!

Here are my favorites from Jim & Gretchen’s wedding day!

love

ummm hello, gorgeous!  (Jim… for real!? In Boston we’d say “your wife is a total smoke show!”)

Love this first look!

How cute is this?  Gretchen’s brother surprised her by coming to the wedding.  She had no idea he would be there!

J + G, What can I say!?  You two are so sweet and I wish you both all the happiness in the world!  Thank you for having me as a part of your wedding day!

Happy Friday!

xo,
Suz

It’s not unusual that I become friends with my brides.  I think that’s what makes this job so fun, getting to know new friends during the most exciting time of their lives.  But, this case is, in fact, a little unusual.  That’s because Mackenzie is already a friend.  Actually, one of my good friends. Really, one of my best ones.  One of the few girls I see as more like a sister than a best friend.  She has made me laugh so hard I cried, she has opened her home to me, been my biggest fan, a shoulder to cry on and a voice of reason.  She stood up for me as one of my bridesmaids at our wedding and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend her wedding day than documenting it for her and Eric.

I’m going to let the images tell the rest of this story…. here’s a few of my many, many, MANY favorites from Mackenzie & Eric’s Golden, CO wedding!

Love this one (below) of Mackenzie…

Perfect spot for a first look, Colorado style!

favorite alert!

Hayes was a little cold!  But seriously, how cute is she!?

Looooove this last shot!

A very happy Monday!

Well, it’s 2012 and we’re hitting the ground running.  It actually feels more like a sprint, honestly.  January was originally slated to be a slow month for SMP, but has quickly become full of shoots, workshops, travel and a little re-branding on the side (yes,…
