Meredith & Jake's Summer Wedding at Guilford Yacht Club

Sep 21, 2017
What started off as a rainy, gloomy day turned into an absolutly perfect summer day at Guilford Yacht Club!

For those of you regular blog readers, you might recognize Meredith from Alex & Pete's Boston wedding last year! Y'all know how I love my #TeamSuz couples and I love it even more when I get to walk into a wedding and see so many smiling, familiar faces!

Meredith looked stunning in her beautiful dress from White Dress by the Shore. My friend, Yumiko of Hana Floral Design, created some of the most beautiful florals - perfect for a seaside CT wedding! And Marissa the team at Gourmet Galley, you guys are the BEST! We always look forward to working with you.

And Meredith & Jake, what can I say? You guys are the best. I'm so happy to have had you as a part of the #TeamSuz fam this year! Thanks for making us feel so at home with the two of you and your families - and for trusting me when I suggested we shoot portraits in the parking lot! ;)

Here are my many, many, many favorites from this Epic day!

I'm going to take a little time out here and chat about wedding planning. We had actually planned to take that beautiful trolley to the Guilford Green to take portraits during cocktail hour. And well, things ran a bit late, as things tend to do at weddings! Looking at my watch, I knew there was no way we would have time to get 25 people on the trolley, off the trolley, take the remaining family and bridal party photos that we still had to take, plus have time for some couples portraits, then load everyone back on the trolley and get back to GYC before cocktail hour was over. So, I took a quick look around. Knowing the lawn where there ceremony was being used for cocktail hour and therefore filled with guests...I called an audible.

We would shoot on this small bit of grass in the parking lot.

When I told Meredith my plan, I saw on her face for a quick second that she might have been a bit disappointed or maybe she thought I was a little crazy? lol. But, the point is... she trusted me! And this is the result! I tell ya, you can do a lot with a small piece of nice light and happy people!!
